
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 until May 7, 2010), was an American singer, actress and dancer who was featured in films in the 1940s and 1950s, and in television during the 1950s, 1960s, and later on. With the professional name Adele St. Mara, she was signed to Columbia Pictures[citation needed] and gained experience in the studio's "B" features as well as comedy shorts. The title was changed to Adele Mara. One of her first roles was as a receptionist in the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. She plays the role of Alias Boston Blackie (1942), as the sister to an innocently accused and freed convict. When her Columbia contract ended in 1942, she moved to Republic Pictures, where she was a regular in their westerns as well as outdoor adventures. She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch with John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima in which John Agar was John's love interestwas played by her, California Passage as well as Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
