Amanda Brugel

Brugel was the sole Canadian actor during season 1 of the show and was not seen much. Then, in Season 2, she began to be a regular part of the cast and still a part the show today. The actress spoke about her character as well as any parallels to her personal life outside of the camera, Brugel was able to relate her personal experiences with prejudice to those who are "Marthas" and claiming, as well as, "I use it, not only in her position at home, but also as Martha but in all aspects of her life as Martha however, I also very much lean on race, and, like I mentioned earlier the past, which includes experiences where I feel as if I've been a slave for a variety of reasons, not just due to the color of my skin. I've never been physically abused on the streets due to my race. But I've certainly experienced verbal abuse. In the TV show I'll employ any variety of racial slurs or racist epithets which make me feel as if someone hit me. "I have this experience almost throughout the show, since it's as if she's getting punched at least one time during every scene."
